Calculate Your Chess Performance Rating
What is a Chess Performance Rating?
A performance rating estimates how strong you played in a tournament based on your opponents and results.
- If you score above 50%, your performance rating will be higher than the average rating of your opponents.
- If you score below 50%, it will be lower.
This calculator includes:
- Accurate performance rating (expected score model)
- FIDE performance calculation (for norms)
- Linear approximation method
Performance Rating Methods Explained
This calculator provides three different types of chess performance ratings:
1. Performance Rating (Accurate)
This is the most precise method. It finds the rating at which your expected score equals your actual score against your opponents.
2. Performance Rating (FIDE)
This method follows official FIDE rules. It adjusts your opponents' average rating based on your percentage score. It is commonly used for title norms.
3. Performance Rating (Linear)
This is a simplified approximation:
Performance = Average Opponent Rating + 400 × (Score Percentage − 50%)
It is easier to calculate and was historically popular in some countries.
